Registering offices of foreign companies in the agents register and commercial intermediaries
Procedures for obtaining the registration card in the register of agents, commercial
intermediaries and foreign offices for the foreign companies
According to the provisions of law no. 130 of the year 1982 and its executive regulations.
Agents’ registers of foreign companies' department:
It is the department that is assigned to extract (statement 15 S commercial agents) which specialized for allowing the establishment of scientific, technical or consulting services offices etc, for the companied or foreign establishments in Egypt according to the provisions of law no. 130 of the year 1982 and its executive regulations. For its establishment a commercial agent for the foreign company registered with the authority with the agents’ register and in addition to a letter from the foreign company for its intention in establishing an office (letter of appointment)
Documents required for registering offices of foreign companies in the agents register and commercial intermediaries:
- Complete the assigned entry application signed by authorized foreign office director before the competent clerk or certified by the bank.
- An official letter addressed by the company interested to open an affiliate office. The letter shall be authenticated by the competent chamber of commerce, and the Egyptian embassy or consulate in the given foreign country, indicating the following:
- New office nature of work (scientific /technical /consultancy / communication), geographic scale, provided that the company is fully aware that the affiliate office shall not be authorized to conduct any commercial activities or practices.
- The company shall have an Egyptian agent as long as the affiliate office is registered in Egypt.
- The name and nationality of the assigned office director, besides all the foreign staff who shall work in the office, provided that the director shall be committed to notify GOEIC via official letter in case of replacing the director or one of the foreign staff in the office.
- A translation service authenticated for the office according to the applicable rules in this respect.
- An official statement issued by the Commercial Agents and Intermediaries` Register That includes all information about the Egyptian agent of the foreign company, enclosed with a copy of Form 14 of the Egyptian agent (provided by the competent department).
- A copy of passports of the Expatriate Director and other foreign staff, or a copy of the ID for Egyptians.
- Sign the Foreign Offices Register declaration form before the assigned clerk, and also sign the declaration form concerning the Egyptian agent of the foreign company before the assigned clerk or certified by the bank.
Note:
- In case of re-entry, the above-mentioned documents shall be filed enclosed with a security transfer application.
- All copies of required documents shall be enclosed with the original for verification.
- Entries are valid for 5 years and terminate with the date of entry expiry. Entries are renewable every 5 years, upon filing entry application within 90 days prior to the date of expiry, to avoid doubled fees in case of exceeding the applicable period; else, the entry shall be revoked administratively.
- Foreign office entry shall be revoked if the agency contract in Egypt expired, or has not been renewed for any reason, or commercial agency continued to be enforced in violation to law provisions. Re-entry shall not be permitted except after a time period not less than 3 years.
